BHU Agrico Alumni Association, Kolkata Chapter officially is as old as 1996. The 21st Annual General Meeting was held on 15th January, 2017 in Kolkata. With the active participation and membership of 71 members, the oldest member belonging to BSc. Ag. Batch of 1954, the alumni association has been organizing meetings and family get together on various occasions throughout the years. This alumni association have been providing platform to share professional experiences related to agriculture and allied, banking, IT, FMCG, consumer durables, consultancy- agri and non agri., government policies and issues etc. The association joins together along with the respective families of members for the Annual General Meeting cum Winter Picnic every year during the month of January. Apart from this families get together on the eve of Bengali New Year Calendar (Poila Boishakh), post Dusshera celebration (Bijoya Dashami) and also during the monsoon (Barsha Mangal). The alumni has a facebook page with the following link: https://www.facebook. com/ groups/117876871616814/?ref= group_header The page has an active membership of 50 members where the alumni shares the group events, intermittent get together with each other’s and also personal events. Mr Nilamani Mitra (B.Sc. Ag. Batch- 1954) is the President of the association. The association mobilize a token contribution each year as a contingency fund which is supposed to be utilized for extending financial help to members who are in need of some assistance in their worrying times. We aspire to engage all the ex- students of Institute of Agriculture Sciences, BHU either staying or is indirectly associated with the state of W. Bengal to join as a member of this chapter to add value and strength to this association. The association would be happy to contribute to the proposed AABHA initiatives being taken up centrally.
